ID Help please...

Post by Thymetraveller »

Wending my way home through Sydney CBD this evening, I happened to notice a row of rather enchanting shrubs along the front of an office building. I paused to admire them, gently caressing their glossy leaves with the very tips of my fingers. At that exact moment a car driving past angrily honked it's horn, causing me to jump in fear. Imagine my horror when I realized that a 6" twig has accidentally come away in my hand.....
To cover my embarrassment, I slipped the incriminating cutting...er...I mean twig...into my pocket and, well, here it is!

So...can anyone tell me what it is, does it strike from cuttings and has anyone grown it as a bonsai?
Thanks in advance,
Thymetraveller

Hi I'm pretty sure it is a Coprosma repens aka mirror bush. I have one growing from a seedling I found but I'm afraid I don't know how well cuttings take.

Cheers, chaps!
Coprosma it is! I should have got it from the shiny leaves....
I have seen some very nice examples as bonsai, so let's hope the cutting strikes!
