Mini Spruce

Post by Leigh Taafe »

Hi !

Some of you may remember this tree from a virtual comp a couple of months back.

I have also done a video of this tree's transformation - I will upload that to youtube or something and then post the link here.

I am still in two minds about whether to keep the current apex and allow it to fill out - or remove the current apex and create an apex a little lower.

Here are the 4 before pics, then 2 after - one of the front and one from above the tree.

Cheers,
Leigh.

Absolutely fantastic, Leigh! Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to capture that on video.

I'll most definitely be re-visiting that for another watch soon! :D

G'day all,

Japh has kindly done some work with this series of video and posted it onto his blog.

It is now a little easier to watch as each video and the pictures are all in the same place.

Check it out here:

As an absolute newbie, I held my breath when Leigh cut the branch off in the 4th video. I couldn't help thinking that there's no way I could do that.

However, by the last video when I could see the beautiful result, I understood why.

Well done Leigh, the expertise shown is only gained by doing it. I hope it inspires a lot of beginner bonsai people to buy a few trees and start having at it :D

G,day Leigh I have seen this tree before, and was going to comment. Had a seniors moment and forgot. Have just come back from the eye specialist.
So as I have to wait for the drops to wear off :!: :!: . I thought to look in at home and catch up.
Problem is I am having trouble seeing the video.
Maybe later, but I do like, very much what you have done, it does show's your skill of which you should be proud. Love the tree.

Cheers ;) Pup
