Shohin azealeas
I think i have these started in another thread. Anyway what your seeing is 10 years from cutting. 8 years in the ground to thicken. These satsuki are SLOW.
2 years in a pot to establish roots, taper and begin branches.
I always admired fat shohin azealeas. Just love them but they aint so easy to find especially with taper .
These are about 180mm high, trucks over 50mm and the bases do flare pretty good. Both are bicoloured pink to white.

Ditto what Juan said. Some shohin with larger trunks than we normally see at exhibitions will be great.

A lot of trial and error. out of 40 , 5 made the cut the rest are now garden plants . My plan is another 1-2 years in these pots to get some decent braches then in to red or blue shohin pots when the time comes . The bases actually flare quite well after I did some digging so i'm looking forward to exposing that.
10 years in a life of a bonsai is a drop in the ocean but more then once I contemplated digging them all out and giving up. glad I persevered and learnt a few things along the way. Bonsai does that to you.........

Look super healthy and vigorous!
I've found Nebari on Azalea develops really well - trunk thickness on the other hand not so much!
Look forward to seeing these refined

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Good looking trees. I'm still trying to decide if I'm more impressed with your patience or your results.

They look pretty good.
I’ve got a couple of twigs at the moment .....let’s see how they go in another 10 yrs....if they survive
Any tips or things to watch out for?
