I have been doing some extensive reading of late, about how to identify Plants. Interestingly the more I read the more confused I become. Even the Botanists and Scientists in a lot of cases can't agree. I have found Wikipedia most helpful. If anyone else is interested start at 'Plant Taxonomy' and this will take you on a merry journey through - Botanical name - Binomial nomenclature - Botanical nomenclature - History of plant systematics - Bessey system - Melchior system and then it gets a bit interesting as it explains - Leaf - Root - Plant stem - Stoma - Vascular tissue - Wood - Meristem - Fruit and Flowers.
For a dense old bugger like me this is all new and confusing, but I'm sure that I must be learning something. The one thing that I would like to share is this description on how to describe leaves when trying to identify plants. I hope you find it interesting. Courtesy of Wikipidia free share.

Re: Plant Identification
I noticed that my photo resizing reduced the clarity of some of the text. Try this one

Re: Plant Identification
Thanks for that Jon. It would certainly make ID plants easier for different people in differing locations.
