Western Australia.
Chasing an Arakawa maple does anyone have any connections? Everywhere that seems to get them tell me I need to buy in bulk for them to order in for me.
Any help would be great thanks in advance.

Re: Arakawa ‘Rough Bark’ Maple
I got one a couple weeks ago from Yamina Rare Plants in Monbulk (Vic).
I think you can mail order them. Pricey for a whippy single stick graft, but
No signs of the rough bark as it's quite young.
Hope that helps.

Oh, all the ones there are grafted from what I could see.
None were particularly nice grafts either.
I have settled for the long-term view of growing it as a regular garden tree and attempting air layerings later on.

I doubt you will be able to get them posted to WA due to WA strict quarantine restrictions. You would do better to look locally.

I got a couple from Yamina and have since airlayered parts from them successfully.
I’ve not found it available anywhere else.

Yeah I’ve been chasing them locally for a while with no luck unfortunately, and you are spot on can’t get anything sent into WA.

Re: Arakawa ‘Rough Bark’ Maple
My Arakawa in the ground has pushed out leaves already.
My rough bark chinese elm is also leafing out.
I'm guessing rough bark species open up earlier...?

Hmm yours is very well woken up now, my Arakawa is still completely dormant but one or two of the plums are showing swelling buds now

Re: Arakawa ‘Rough Bark’ Maple
The top of the Yamina website says they are accredited to deliver to all states except NT. They have Arakawa in stock. It will, of course be grafted.
