Hi All,
Recently I’ve been getting advertisements on YouTube for these black plastic airlayer capsules that you fill with a medium then cable tie together! Has anyone used em?

Re: Air layer capsules
Hi Pat,
I haven't used them so could be way off the mark here, but I don't think they are made with bonsai in mind from what I can tell. They look to me to be custom designed to fit around straight, reasonably thin branches - which may be very handy for those wanting to clone trees or whatever in regular horticultural scenarios, but in bonsai, air layering provides a possible start on a new tree that has interesting characteristics. Trees with movement, often just above branching/forking and with any luck, thickish and with taper. Maybe not always the case, but I don't think these capsules look like they would work well in more complex layer scenarios (which are the ones we are most interested in).
