Can anyone tell me if the needle colour is healthy. The light green colour us a little concerning. Has full sun. I have been watering daily. Keeping fertiliser 6 weeks ago and again 2 weeks ago. Feels heavy in the bag, so I don't think it is dry
Some of mine are a bit yellow through spring. Usually that's a result of not enough fert or being root bound or both.
4 weeks between fert is a bit long if the trees are hungry. It also depends what you are feeding with. I usually get good response with liquid feed every 2 weeks in spring.
I used Searle 5 in 1 last time, it is fairly low nitrogen and smells bad. Probably a bit on weak side. I'll put some higher nitrogen on and see if it gets darker green. I'll post again in a fortnight
Concern about overwatering will depend on what mix it is in.
As it is in a nursery bag I assume it has fairly standard potting mix which will probably hold moisture and possibly prone to overwater.
My trees are all in open, well drained mix and they get watered every day whether they need it or not and root problems are still rare.
You could make a few more drain holes right at the base of the bag walls to allow extra drainage but should probably monitor dryness fairly close until you work out haw the soil performs. Altering water application to suit the soil works almost as well as changing the soil to suit the watering regime.
Searles 5 in 1 is an organic product. It probably takes time to break down and release nutrients so won't usually have an immediate response. Liquid is almost immediately available. I use organic pellets in conjunction with liquid feed. One provides quickly available but quickly gone nutrient source, the other provides slow, longer term nutrient release. Agree about the smell issue for a few days at least.
Also very low nutrient content. For now your tree needs good quantities of quickly available N in particular.
