olive chop down

Post by Jamie »

hey people :D

after recently recieving my first olive i have decided it needs an "antonio" chop :?   :D i have put an airlayer on as i dont have access to olives up here and would like a couple in my collection and the part i have put the layer on will make a nice tree if it takes, this wont affect the overall design of the tree though, i am putting it here as i would like some thoughts on where to go, i have a couple of ideas but want more just to see what you guys can come up with :D

so here it is which i think is the optimum veiwing angle.
Photo034.jpg
and a couple of virts, one single trunk option and one twin trunk option, right now i am leaning to the twin trunk :D
olivevirt.jpg
olive virt twin trunk.jpg
in my virt the pads look quite heavy, which i dont mind but am thinking if i can go somewhere like leigh is going on his little olive that he done a demo on i would be happy to, his idea is to have a full canopy using very tight foliage pads, that would look wicked defoliated :D

so hit me with it people. hack the photo up and show me your ideas :D

cheers!

jamie :D

edit- i forgot to add i intend on carving some nice feature into the tuber at the base of the tree. one way or the other, if it suits and needs it :D

edit 2- i forgot to add this olive was kindly sent up via chris, and is a yamdori that he dug up and got to this stage before i received it :D cheers chris :D

cheers mate :D i reckon the base is wicked too, definately needs a chop though to introduce the taper for sure :D
i like the twin trunk idea too, and if it isnt working i could always go down to the single :D

cheers jay :D i think if i go with the single trunk design i will probably go a little smaller in the height department, i think if it is a single trunk shorter will look better where as if it is twin a bit of height will help with the overall dynamics and structure.

just a thought.
