Thief's

Post by Shannon »

Hi all thought I'd post this thread under pest and disease because anyone who steals someones bonsai should be exterminated .

Just going to inquire about security and what people use?? Had an unwanted visitor last Saturday night, they soon got a shock from the dog though

Myself, I use a motion sensitive system with alarm, dog and some friendly neighbours.

lol, yeah mate u can't beat a couple of rounds of buckshot ;) you can wire a piezo alarm to a sensor light so when it lights up it starts howling like a st johns ambo! but the neighbours might not remain so friendly lol!! or do what lindsay bebb did at bonsai nursery brisbane and build a 10.000 volt electric fence!! it looked like it was the same design as the fence from the t-rex enclosure in jurassic park  but i remember on one occasion there were a few young fellas that used to terrorise the area on their push bikes, they came into the nursery one day having a good look around and looking very suspicious! turns out that night lindsay got up to the alarm numerous times and discovered that there had been an attempt to gain entry to the nursery by cutting the wire on the electric fence, it was discussed the next morning at work and the police were called, when the police arrived they were made aware of the 3 suspicious young guys from the day before and after descriptions were given, the police said they were well known to them and that they would go and pay them a visit...

turns out when they went to go and see these young bloke one of them was sporting major electrical burns to one of his hands after trying to cut through a 10,000 volt wire with uninsulated pliers!! so in conclusion there are many different methods but i know the most effective... :D

nice little story there jay :D  and its good that not only did the little punks get busted they got caught "red handed" to a degree   (what a bad pun  ) it serves them right for trying to get through a fence like that though lol. it would of been signed saying 10,000 volts to lol. the things kids get up to.

Don, I reckon the local police would find out that you had one.. if and when you did have to crack a thief with it......I reckon the thief would report you for hitting him with a loaded stick...

Lets hope that you never need to use it
