Autumn 2025 photo thread

Post by TimS »

It has been a pretty poor year for Autumn colour generally, but it's kicked off in Melbourne in the last week since the mornings started getting properly cold.

Mostly Ginkgo for me as the maples really struggled through summer, so i'd love to see other people's trees who got better colour.

My Manchurian pear has some of the best colour in my yard at the moment. The picture is from last weekends AABC Convention in Canberra.

Not enough cold nights to give really good Autumn colour here either but a couple of cold nights triggered the change. Most now well past their best but here's a few photos from the past couple of weeks.

Couple of photos from the garden today

One of several JM Mikawa Yatsubusa kicking around. This air layer didn't root by Christmas, so i re-wounded the area and reapplied rooting hormone, and it has now rooted. It will be separated spring/ summer all going well for sale then. The yellow behind it is Arakawa

Since it's hit the peak colour now i couldn't' resist brining it inside for the weekend to enjoy up close rather than from across the garden

Not nearly as good as the Ginkgo Comes Home tree, but the Big Kohuna got swapped in today. Needs about 3 more decades of work
