If it is grafted onto a palmatum and the join is good you will have an excellent tree ,plus plenty of grafting practice with the offcuts .Look forward for updates

Yep that would work tooshibui wrote:.....or layer it just below the graft so the graft will be disguised by the new nebari. For this one I would make the layer the same angle as the graft union and have the tree coming from the ground at an angle.
