Nice movement there. I would now let it go Mad and allow to thicken as much as you can. make sure the wired does not cut in wile doing so.

Good start. I've got a gardenia that I'm training to be a cascade. Might upload some pics.

i will take some more pics in a month to record and show growth
PS..
it has 2 flower buds coming up.. i may only pinch out the outer one. reasons being, they smell and look so damn good!! and i'm hoping the inner one will act like a sucker and beef up the lower trunk.... is this possible or should i pinch both?

It would be best to pich them both off for tree growth, but I know how ya feel man I piched all but a few off mine a few weeks ago, but now it's got a heap moe coming up. I know I should pich them off, but Gardenias are just s beautiful in flower!!

sharing is caring .. i cant find many other examples of 'living' gardenia cascades...

hey luke, (and nathan )

while in the growing stages it is good to pinch out the flower buds bfore they get to big as it sucks energy in developing the flower instead of concetrating on the tree. later down the track when you are happy with the size of the tree and the look of it ( a developed stage) where you arent looking at growth or refinement then it can flower like mad, i can under stand why you want to keep them on for the scent but like i said, it doesnt help them growing on.

Here is one I have been working with for a couple of years. Watering has exposed the roots and they have thickened nicely to support the tree.

nice tree busta!! exactly what i wanted to see! thankyou!
ummm i understand flowers use up energy... but i am going to keep at least one flower, anytime its flowering!!!
i like this plant and i want it to 'show off'! even from a small size! (if it wants to show its beauty i will not stop it)
i don't think about flowers on trees all that much but gardenia flowers are something else!!!

Jamie - yeah man, I know they should come off for growth purposes. last time round I pinched them all off. It's only just developed a few new ones now, so I haven't had a chance to pinch them. It won't be flowering yet
Luke - will make a quick thread in a sec Might put it in progression section.
You don't generally see alot of gardenia as bonsai. I've also got one in training as an informal upright. Not too sure how that's going to work out though. It's healthy and growing (bar the one branch that died back?).
Busta - nice one dude. Has a ncie base and looks veryhealthy. Good stuff
Much bigger and better than mine is Mine's only just starting out.
