Eucalyptus Gunnii in training for 2 years

Post by Edward Scissorhand »

I figured I start a progression for another Aussie native and take a pic every 6 months of it. This is a Gunnii and its been wired very loosely with bits and pieces here and there. I dont like wiring it tightly especially on young branches because I reckon the copper conducts too much heat and the direct heat is just too much for the young outer layers of the branch. Which is why I wired it the loose and lazy way (I couldnt care less if any bonsai master complains about the messyness), besides its not going to be in a show for a while so why spend too much time on wiring. The tree was aquired as a gift about 2 and a half years ago from just a 6 cm tall lignotube with multiple sprout. Strongest sprouts was selected and rest cut away. Over the last 2 years its been repotted in a mudlark pot. I think this tree will be a stunner in about a decades time, dont know why more people dont have a go with Eucs, theyre really easy to grow. At the moment Im trying to find a good front, which is why the tree is not potted in the right way. Photoed 19/03/2010.

I'm glad you posted that. I bought one of these as a 6" seeding in Feb from Kmart and I was wondering what it might eventually look like.

Thanx Ron, am glad you bought one. Hope you could do a progression of it one day.
