My new Jacaranda

Post by Edward Scissorhand »

I bought this nice Jacaranda from Minh on this forum. He had it in the for sale section for $50. The wires were already there, I just did alittle trimming and alittle bending. But its pretty much the same as when I purchased it. Hope to see it grow into something beautiful in a few years time. Thanx Minh!

Very nice. We have a lot of Jacaranda tree's around brisbane and when they bloom they are fantastic. I've been told that a jacaranda won't bloom in a pot but will only have great foliage. One of the reason's why I didn't buy one the other week but brought a maple instead. Keep us posted on this one :)

Dan,

first off let me say they will flower in a pot & even as a bonsai but require special pruning (or rather not pruning). If you prune beyond the end of february they will not bloom (that is in newcastles climate). That applies to not only bonsai or pot growing trees but also ground growing.

Eddie,

Would love to see where this one is at now. I have just dug & replanted mine, will update soon.

I was talking to ray n he says that for it to flower u must leave the branch to go but if u do it's hard to style so I came up with a solution when lookin at the jacs around the area they only look nice when they big
