mame JBP

hi guys,

after winning the virt comp a while back i got these mame pots, not having much to go in it i had this JBP i was using as a practice tree, it wasnt much and i thought it might be good to learn with, well i was keen to use the new pots i got and the stand i won in a previous comp. so far the tree is going well, even after all the roots i took off it. i thinned the needles right out and it has loved it as there are all new buds swelling and ready to pop as we speak which is a bit of a surprise as i didnt think it would last.

any tips (pup ) would be great. im starting to get quite attached to this minute little tree even though it isnt anything special. my 14 month old daughter seems to think it is her tree as it is her size for bonsai she grabs it and walks around everywhere, if she wants me to work on trees she will grab it and bring it to me to

cheers man they are getting small arent they hehehe, i am hoping i will be able to get the foliage into pads or at the least a canopy, but the way it is back budding i think it will be good
it does look messy right no with the way the needles are at the moment, but i think it will neaten up, i hope

the next challenge after this when it does start to fill out is wiring the sub branches if possible, i will have to find some half mm copper as copper is a bit less giving.

they are crack ups arent they, so much character in such little bodies life would be boring without kids, although a lot quieter

and there will be more little ones coming eventually when i get the right stock, at least they wont take long to grow out

Hi Jamie, the pot doesn't seem quite right to me I would have put it in rounder and shallower unglazed pot. The tree looks good and will be nice when it fills out a bit. One big sacrifice branch for a few years would help age the bark and give you some basal flare.

I agree with Craig on this tree Jamie. It will take to long to develop in the tiny pot. Grow the tree on but keep it tiny by pruning and use the pot for an accent planting which it is probably intended

the pot is actually for a semi cascade tree that is why it doesnt seem right craig, thats what i originally thought myself, the thing is the more i look at it the more it grows on me! im quite happy to take this one very slow, because even if it is slow to develop at least i know it is still developing, its going to be interesting to try and get this one out of the pot eventually.

i would like to see a hokkaido or seiju in this one and the full cascade pot i have aswell
