[SOLVED]Nashi or not

Post by alpineart »

This caught my eye a few months ago hope someone can positively identify it

Leaves are about 80-110mm in length , saw tooth serration smooth on top and soft velvet type underneath .Fruit has a distinct textured skin like a Nashi pear . The $1 coin is for comparison of the size of the fruit .Bark on the tree is smooth and the growth habit is a column .This tree is around 8-10 years old .Cheers Alpineart

Hi Alpine, Amelanchier are very beautiful shrubs not very often seen in this country. I have no idea how they go as bonsai but if all fails they make great garden plants for a cool climate garden.

Hi Craig the lady that owns the tree is from the "land of the long white cloud" N.Z . I think there maybe self sown seedlings under the tree ..As Bonsai i'll try anything once .Cheers
