Its hard to i.d. purely from a leaf. Is the leaf crinkled over at the top or is it flat in this picture?

Its a hibiscus. I don't know what variety, I know the flowers are purple but that's about it.
I have one in my front yard, there are about 20 in the next street over and a block owner has a hedge of them.

Good work Asus!

Its Hibiscus insularis. It is native and rare in the wild, endemic to an island. I have heard it makes a great bonsai but have not tried myself.

The deciduous hibiscus is a really old fashioned plant not seen much around these days. When I was living in footscray I saw them often in old gardens. there is a few colours.
