Re: WILD JUNIPER CALIFORNICATION
When I had seen juniper bonsais all twisted like that it was my naive opinion (obviously very wrong and now changed) that they looked very artificial and nothing like nature.
Perhaps because I live in a tropical climate where we don't see trees like this ever. Just goes to show, doesn't it?

Re: WILD JUNIPER CALIFORNICATION
You said it Glenda,
Those of us that have grown up in mild climates like most of Aus have never seen the way 'real trees' grow in harsh climates so we do not appreciate how they can look. I think that is why we have few of these trees. It is hard to create an inspired form if you have never seen it.

Re: WILD JUNIPER CALIFORNICATION
That is just amazing!
The closest we are going to get to this anytime soon is from those people in Sydney and Melbourne who are doing some serious twisting and coiling of small shimpaku.
Chris A from Sydney might have some nice ones by now.
It takes lots of time though.

Re: WILD JUNIPER CALIFORNICATION
I have one like that. I just cut all the foliage off it to wire it easily though. It will come back yeah?
