[SOLD] Grey Myrtle

Post by MelaQuin »

Backhousie - Grey Myrtle - 'Ironwood'
Australian native with small dark green leaves. New leaves start as purple and mature to green which gives the tree some interesting colour. The trunk has been extensively carved with caverns and hollows that all lead into each other and always on a downward slope so water is not able to sit and rot the wood. The tree is quite heavy and in such a small pot that is barely larger than the trunk, it cannot develop the way it should. Put it in a larger pot and the branches should thicken nicely. It was repotted in late April so it would be better to leave it until early summer before disturbing the roots to give them time to settle. It went into this pot with about 5 small roots and I was stunned that it not only survived but started to flourish. With room to grow it should develop into a nice and interesting tree. It is happier in a water tray.

Height: 30 cm to top of jin
Width: 12-13 cm at base depending on where the front is.
Shoots back on old wood
$50.00
Pick up only from Sydney's Inner West

I know the branches look scrawny now but I have never been able to handle it if it is in a pot large enough to give it root room. I can see it taking several years to develop but the trunk interest is there for someone with the time and the inclination.
