i just forget the sub-specie of this ficus. does anyone know it?
Another question: Do i have to wire it even more down?

its not green island but it is very close in relation to green island, i think this is possibly one of its variants. the leaf shape of green island is round, even though this one is thick leaved like green island the shape is off. it could possibly be one of the hybrids of green island x microcarpa var. ???

so many variants in the ficus family makes perfect ID hard.

but it is close.

wire it out completely, then look at thinning out where needed, it is hard to tell with all the foliage, defoliation usually helps when wiring figs out, i have found green island and variants rather slow to come back though, so if you can wire it out without defoliation that will be the go

The Ficus could be that commonly called triangularis. Also a very similar fig is a variety of natalensis.

F. diversifolia looks similar and is almost always covered with fruit.

From your first photo, I am guessing Jerry is on the money. Might be me, but I have never been able to produce large trunks from this tree.

the thick fleshy leafed figs seem to be a lot slower growing then most other figs i have noticed. i have a GI that will take a lot more time now as i los a major section on it, the GI i have has a base of around 75-100mm but took a long time to grow i beleive.

The only Ficus that I can find with a red centre vein on the underside of the leaf as in your 3rd photo is one of the Ficus Craterostoma variations - the narrower leaf var.
