My first Mame.

Post by kvan64 »

It's a 4 years old willowleaf cutting with restricted growth. The pot is I guess..a failed attempt at glazing :) Anyone has a glaze recipe for moss green colour?

that cute :-)
Too tall though for me, I would reduce the hight back to the fist few branches.

I do like the pot verry much, the colour glaze you have looks nice

Thanks Ken. The willow leaf tree is under 20 cm but I can reduce the top branches to lower it down.

Thanks Loretta. I usually used a more well draining mix by adding diatomite. Since this is a much smaller pot. I only used ordinary bonsai mix from Bunnings. The hole on the bottom is covered with fly screen.

Like the pot, the tree needs height reduction to be anything convincing. Watch that flyscreen it will clog over in no time with the fine particles you will find in ordinary bonsai mix. Buy some proper bonsai mesh next time your repotting and if you live where its not readily avaiable try leigh tafe or other nurseryman and they can ship it to you. It will save your trees in the long run.

I like it!
There is always something charming about failed glazes in my opinion, mistakes they may be, but each mistake can be individual to each person... so its somewhat beautiful if you think of it in that way
That being said I like the failed glaze alot

Thank you guys for you encouragements and suggestions. I've made so much mistake in my first glaze firing. Not just many colours turned out wrong but I also glazed on the bottoms of a few pots and stacked them together. You could guess what happened. I lost half of the pots trying to seperate them after firing. We all learn from our mistakes I guess.
Jamie, how is you willow leaf fig going? You need to post update picture for that one.
