REVERSE TAPER

Post by Loretta »

Hi All

Can someone please explain the term "reverse taper". I have tried to work it out on posted photos where this has been mentioned and for the life of me can't see it...mainly cause I don't know what I'm actually looking for I guess. Does it mean the trunk goes from thin to fat and thin again :? :?
cheers Loretta

Gday Loretta!

You got it in one. It can be caused by a number of factors, including having too many vigorous branches at the same point on a trunk. Here's a pic of one of my trees with an example of reverse taper (sometimes referred to as 'inverse taper'):

Thanks and good luck!
