Pretty good for a first attempt. As previously mentioned perhaps closer together. After doing my first group I then discovered an article on Harry Harringtons bonsai4me website which is very helpful. It covers odd numbers, overall positioning and perspective and I found it invaluable.

Which side of the river do you hail from ?

Yes there are a lot of great trees around, Ive been trying to get some cuttings but none of them survives, maybe just because its the wrong time of the year?

Depends - what are you trying, how big are the cuttings etc. I am a mad propagator - but I usually collect figs and bougy cuttings. Am trying some swampy cuttings at the moment. As a general rule things are slower and less successful during winter.
