Refining a Buxus.

Post by lennard »

This picture of a 10 year old Buxus was taken in April 2009.
eerste foto april 2009.jpg
It was repotted in spring 2009 in a new shallower oval pot.

The tree was still too high in its pot but I did not want to reduce it too much and the tree was planted too far to the left.

I repotted the tree a few weeks ago lowering it a little more and moved the tree more to the right in the pot.

The tips of the branches are bending upwards and I was wondering if it would not be better to bend the tips downward? The area mark with yellow I already wired and bend down.

What do you guys think?

Hi Lennard, your trees looking great, don't worry too much about the tips they look fine to me. Next time you pot it I think it should be moved a bit to the right.

Nice little tree Lennard. Hard to get good Buxus Bonsai. I agree with Craig, the tree should be on the right side of the pot to balance the overall effect.

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

I am going to move the tree to the suggested position but I'm someone who always try and play safe. I have already moved it a bit and after some growth, probably end September, I will cut out the soil to the left and move it to the suggested position.
