SPONGALITE ALERT !!!

Post by GavinG »

My first bag of spongalite (Richgro aquatic planting medium) was good, the second, bought yesterday, turned out to be diatomite! The folk at Richgro said that their present spongalite mine had closed down, and their new one will possibly not be in production until next potting season - not for a while anyway. They are using diatomite until then. CHECK WHAT YOU ARE GETTING!

interesting mate!

it comes in a similar sized bag to diatomite but i had found the aquatic mix cheaper, now that it is diatomite, well... nice! what size particles are they? are they the 2-7mm or a mix of the three? <2mm, 2-7mm, 7-15mm?

if it is the right size particle for a 30-35l bag for $13 i think it was is a good price.

jamie :D

I noticed there was a change. I think the change happened at the same time the bag became smaller. Not less material just smaller bag!
I ratherd the Spongalight it looks better than the new stuff.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
