Banksia spinulosa ‘Honey Pots’

Post by Glenda »

This is a dwarf variety of the spinulosa. I have one that is very 'leggy' and wondered if anyone has one that could tell me their suitability for bonsai, and how it will respond if I prune it hard.

Hi Glenda, I don't know about their suitability for bonsai I have always thought the spinulosa hybrids to be a bit thin all round, trunks and foliage. I grow some of them in the garden for the birds and have found they respond to hard pruning very well. One got quite big and I cut it almost to the ground it shot back with incredible vigor.
