International Artist In Oz For Workshops
I have been putting some thought into getting an international artist to come to Australia to help us work on our trees. There are alot of people in Australia that love their bonsai and want to advance their skills but are not a part of a club, so dont get exposure to the international artists that come over for our conferences and club activities. I was thinking of putting together a National Tour, and depending on interest, we would have workshops in Major areas for 1 or more days as required. If there was enough interest, there would not be a huge cost to do so.
This, of course would not be restricted to non-club members, but it would be easily accessed by non-club members, whereas international artists in the past were brought out by clubs or associations for their members only.
Do I have any interest?
Of course, there will be many questions, and in time, I can give answers. I just need to measure the level of interest in order to evaluate whether it will be a worthwhile project to undertake.

Gday Leigh
This a great idea
I would be interested for shore. Between work, family and other commitments I don't really have time to go to club activates
I have friends in clubs and they tell me how good it is and how much information and knowledge is gained from them so hopefully one day. So I would be keen if the numbers get there for this to take place.
This a great idea

Thats perfect, someone from no club and another from some club. This would be open to anyone. The more people that I can see there is an interest from - the more likely this will go ahead (and the cheaper it will become)!
Cheers,
Leigh.

Oh, and it would take me at least a year to organise....so nothing will happen immediately.

Oh, and it may not be a "one-off" - I already have 2 European artists that are keen to come here, and a third not far away.
Cheers,

I would definitely be interested. I'm sure that workshops in Victoria alone would make your efforts worthwhile. I participated in workshops with Robert Steven, Hirotoshi Saito and Salvatore Liporace in the past year and I believe that on all 3 occasions, workshop places were full or very close to it. Hiro filled 2 weeks worth of dates on his last visit.

Where do I sign up? Great idea, who's on the list of artists? Or is the confidential?

Re: International Artist In Oz For Workshops
This is a great idea Leigh, I would be up for it even if it meant having to drive to Sydney for it.
If it takes a year to organise, it just gives me another year to get more growth into a few trees to choose from.

OK - good feedback. Not enough to base a tour on - but a good indication. I need to work out the nitty gritty. Wont be announcing anything until I know that I will be going ahead with it. Got some figures to do. Please feel free to keep adding your interest here, it gives me a good base to work from in terms of letting you know if and when it goes ahead.
Cheers,
Leigh.
