I have for sale some chinese elm rooted cuttings, wisteria seedlings, holly oak (an evergreen oak) and english oak seedlings and a few other assorted rooted cuttings - are you after anything in particular?

Hi, just after anything that can be trained into a decent Bonsai, must be small enough to still be able to be wired and root trained.

This is gonna sound stupid but is that a japanese zelkova. the reason this is going to sound stupid is because i think there is only one type of zelkova.

The website http://www.bonsai4me.com has a species guide that says there are several small leaved species of zelkova, but the zelkova serrata is commonly called the Japanese elm. There is mention of a Zelkova carpinifolia also. The ones I have I don't know which species of zelkova they are. Most taxonomies I have read say that true elms have asymmetrical bases on the leaves, meaning one side of the leaf is noticeably lower than the other near the petiole, and zelkovas are symmetrical. On the chinese elms this asymmetry is very noticeable, and the leaves are much, much larger. Does that help? These two are on the bench together. If I have these wrong, someone can let me know. I am only going by the tags that were on them when I bought them. Chinese elm on the left, zelkova on the right.

Hi all,

I hope I put this in the right thread. I am going to be travelling from Cairns to Mackay on the 2 January, back to work. I am chasing either a starter or small stock to keep in Middlemount. This is my stop smoking program and it has worked wonders whilst I have not been at work, but I dont want to fall off the wagon after 4 months. If anyone has something that can handle the weather out there, cold at night, but gets pretty hot during the day, please let me know..

Chasing something like the ficus obliqua or on the same lines, hardy and beautiful

I put this thread under wanted, but will buy..Please PM if anyone can help.
:fc: :fc:

Cheers

There is another Zelkova in Australia and that is Zelkova sinensis(Chinese Zelkova). Leong Kwong has/had a massive one that was/is spectacular.

Hey ozzy,

I somehow missed this thread when you first posted. I have a few wisteria root cuttings that i would be happy to share. They are off my Double Dragon, I cant find a graft however they are normally grafted so the roots may only produce a plain wisteria rather than the double dark purple of Double Dragon.

If anyone else would like one I have about 6 or so available, just pm me.
