Some new pots.
I just thought i would share a few new pots i had made.
I work with a very talented woman who makes art works in porcelain. After seeing some of the plates and bowls she made i commissioned her to make me some bonsai pots.
These pots are her first attempt at bonsai pots and i think she has done a great job! They are hand made and hand painted with carp. I think i will have to get a few more made up in the future!
Enjoy.

The woman who made them is a collegue. She makes pottery as a hobby and as you can see she is very talented. Luckily for me she agreed to make these pots for me. Hopefully I can convince her to make me some more.

Re: Some new pots.
Lovely pots, they would have a place in my collection.
Just on a style note, I have always adored the blue stenciled bone white porcelain dinner ware/vases etc, but traditionally was bonsai ware ever made like this or is it a new age design.
Just haven't see many /any older pots like this. Just interested that's all.....

Re: Some new pots.
Really nice Jow!
After trying my hand at making a few shohin pots (not hand painted), I can really appreciate the work and talent involved in these pots...getting the rim and pot so even and fine is soooooo hard, and the painting is magnificent!
Great commission mate!

Re: Some new pots.
Thanks for the comments Scott. I am really happy with them. The problem now is finding bonsai worthy of them!
Mitchell, hand painted porcelain has been used for ages as bonsai containers but I guess the motifs on these pots are a little more modern than most.
Here is a link to some antique pots that might give you an idea of what high end ones looks like.

that is a great website too if you are into pots.

Re: Some new pots.
No problems mate, Porcelian pots are not very common in Australia. The pots above were fired 3 times. Once to fire the pottery. Then to fire the painting. Then lastly to fire the clear glazes. Quite a process all in all. I am guessing all that firing makes them less lucrative for producers to make.Mitchell wrote:.... Those links i posted were to some images of pots that are regarded as some of the best in the world, so its no wonder you like them! I would kill to own one.
