Hey maybe we could all chip in and own a piece of it, now how many members do we have
For 15 people at $1,000 each, or 30 at $500ea, 60 at $250ea which you'd spend more for just one tree. Im inn.

Re: Collection for sale
I read the listing and I get the idea the person is happy to sell trees separately. He gives a range of individual prices. Not sure keeping pictures of the add will avoid any theft though

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Re: Collection for sale
It sounds genuine. I believe if hes up on the highlands ( mossvale) near the irrawarra district than some members may know who the person is. That area is pretty bonsai active. it would be nice to see whats on offer eventhough i cant afford it

Re: Collection for sale
Ok, so I went to see Simon yesterday, great bloke, just rightfully cautious of bonsai theft.
The trees have been grown in the ground for a number of years by Simon and some mates. Some of the trees hadn't been repotted for a while due to injury and time constraints, and are in need of a feed and love.
The trees were predominantly elm, and privet, with a few maples and junipers etc in the medium size, the large bonsai were mostly privet and chinese elm, there was a great taxodium that I may be tempted with too ~1m high!
I bought a chinese elm maybe around 10-15 years old at a VERY good price. It does not have great nebari, but a layer will clean that up in a few years. It did have a bit of die back, and is in need of a wire and feed. If anyone is looking for a project to get an excellent quality tree in 2-3 years, give Simon a call.
I know i will be going up to see him at the end of winter, shovel in hand.
Also the Southern Highlands is a great area to spend a public holiday!
Scott.

Re: Collection for sale
After 3 hours of clean up, including the removal of all dead twigs and the over croweded pads. This will let the Autumn sun in to stimulate back budding that will enable the removal of the knobby growth on some branches:
