Hi Gareth.
You just missed out on our meeting last Saturday of the Newcastle club. We meet every second Saturday of the month and it usually goes from about 10.00 - 10.30 to 2.00 or 3.00. Morning tea is supplied but bring your lunch and a tree or two to work on. There are plenty of members to say hello and welcome you. We also have guest demonstrators and workshops on a regular basis. We have only just secured Andrew Ward to spend the day with us at our July meeting.
Regarding diatomite, you could try pool shops and pet/aquarium supplies. We have no specific bonsai nurseries here in Newcastle. If you want more information, just pm me.
Penny.
