Ray Nesci Bonsai Personal Collection
I thought some members might like to see a couple of trees from Ray's collection.
First up is a Trident Maple. I think this tree has great style.

Re: Ray Nesci Bonsai Personal Collection
Now his little American Hornbeam.
I got a bit more info about this tree this time. Apparently there were6 seeds that germinated and only one has the varigated autum colour that is seperated by ther vien.
This one is one of the original 6 from seed and has always been pot grown. The autum colour of this one is not seperated by the vien.
I wish mine stayed this healthy all year.

Re: Ray Nesci Bonsai Personal Collection
A trident feature tree that replaced a wisteria that used to be in this spot.
Is that nice tree I hear?
Any one game to critique. I have personaly but I have not been game to pass my views on to Ray yet. Having a chat next to the Hornbeam It crossed my mind but I was enjoying talking about other stuff too much

Re: Ray Nesci Bonsai Personal Collection
brett what are we going to critique? there's nothing here that a good prune, a little trunk chop, and 2-3 years wont fix. it is obvious the man knows his bonsai and how to growm.

Hey Brett. Glad you enjoyed the visit
You should have gotten photo of Ray next to the Trident in the ground to show its size..
The tree must be 6 feet high

Re: Ray Nesci Bonsai Personal Collection
LOL. A recent interview with Walter Pall on Bonsai Vault had me ask the question. How can I be the best I can be in Australia. Walters response was. Find the artist trees that inspire you the most and become thier best friend[or words to that effect]brett what are we going to critique? there's nothing here that a good prune, a little trunk chop, and 2-3 years wont fix. it is obvious the man knows his bonsai and how to growm.
It has had me thinking and Ray was as close as I could get to the artist that I aspire too.
Yet in discussing these trees with international artist I heard some comments that I had thought of.
Antonio states "a little trunk chop" that is about my only issue. It seems the apex has been dragged out too far. I am only a beginer but in my taste it seems to me that that Ray has been doing a great job but has not given his trees an apex workover that is over due.
Any tree after time needs to go through a remake mode. I think these trees are over due.
Is that in any way what you are thinking by a little trunk chop Antonio.

Re: Ray Nesci Bonsai Personal Collection
spot on brett, having said that ray is probably eyeing off his next apex's and just waitng for them to develope a little so the impact to the visual of the tree wont be as drastic. the man is no fool. alot of experience there. artist + nursery man. i think you have chosen well to aspire to him.

Re: Ray Nesci Bonsai Personal Collection
Maybe but I am not so sure. I feel it is his personal taste. I hope I get the chance and am game enough to ask him

Re: Ray Nesci Bonsai Personal Collection
More excellent trees. Yet they still have the long apex. I wonder if I offer to buy the tops of these trees he will get some roots on them for me.
I know the least I would get is a friendly smile
