[WANTED] Finished (dead) Bonsai

Post by girlz0r »

Hi!

I am looking for a finished bonsai plant. I've recently created a Japanese Iwagumi tank using acid washed limestone, and looking to add a Bonsai tree to create an underwater scene.

Image

As you can see, I've created a trunk using other logs, but it does not look as natural. I'm willing to pay as I know how much patience, care and attention goes into them! Never realized that the art took so long, Saw a tree in Garden world in chains! Grown since 1942 O___O :worship: (I tried to purchase a bonsai limestone rock, and it would've cost $400! apparrently they are very difficult to get into australia/melb because no one around here does acid treatments! Instead I ended up just building my own formation.. No where as nice as the one I wanted though!)

Hope you're able to help :)

Won't the limestone rocks be dissolved? (like oyster shells in the filter) Or is that what you want to to happen.

limestone will will help buffer the ph in the tank and keep it hovering around 8 - 8.5 which is what african riftlake chichlids prefer. :P

On the flipside, organic matter such as logs, driftwood and decaying plant matter etc will pull down ph as they breakdown and acidify your water.

haha all my fish are enjoying themselves atm. I was told that these rocks are made from limestone, not too sure though.. I'm not too great at ID'ing rocks.
:) Still on the lookout for a completed bonsai though!

If you have a small chip of the rock, put it in some vinegar. If it's limestone , it will bubble and eventually dissolve.
