Dothistroma Needle Blight in Western Australia

Looking into what I could take to Western Australia from NSW I found Pinus was not allowed from any state that has Dothistroma Needle Blight. This is common n NSW and I know my pines have had it so that would be a definate NO.
Then talking with someone in WA they believed Needle Blight was already in WA and infact showed me on a pine what dam well looked like Needle Blight to me.
I got curious about this and asked WA quarintine if it was already in WA what was the problem. Well they believe that they don't have it
I understand this may be a touchy subject with people not wanting to tell everyone that they have pines with this but I am hoping some people from WA may be able to shed some light on this and tell me wether they believe they have seen this disease in WA before. Graeme Lukeis is head of the Quarintine Policies in WA and he is double checking if the disease has actually already gotten in as the policy is a very old one. If it is already in WA then what has been portrayed to me is that the restriction would be lifted.

Thanks for any discrete replies or PM's

You cant bring that paperbark back though  :!: It came from here so it should be allowed back eh :!:

I think Grant maybe able to shed some light on the needle blight issue, as he has had contact with one of the primary growers of JBP.

In this state sorry for dobbing you in Grant :shake:

I don't think dobbing someone else in is the discrete I was thinking Pup :palm:  But seriously if Grant can pass on some second hand info without turning the spotlight on anyone that would be great

Don't worry I haven't given up on the natives yet. I would not leave Bailey's tree behind without a fight. Never say never ;)
