species: Babingtonia virgata (Baekia)
training: 4.5 years
style broom
dimensions: 38cm high, 50cm wide
age: 16 years
artist: Hugh Grant
Bought as nursery stock and grown on in a plastic pot for 3 years to thicken and build ramification. One and a half years ago in January 2010 it was transplanted into this pot. The rough texture of the pot complements the rough bark and gives a more Australian feel. this tree has had some wiring to many major branches in the canopy to place branches in the right positions. It gets regular trimming and pruning twice a year.
