radiata, ideas thoughts wanted

Post by baturb »

I have these radiata that I collected about 6-8 months ago, they were potted up and fed now they are pushing new candles and new growth so I thought it might be time to start thinking about where I am headed with these trees, so I would like some suggestions from the very knowledgable people on this forum for some ideas,

G'day mate, this might be a good time of year to think of selecting how you might style these trees. A good time to trunk chop, cut off branches and needle pluck. You don't have to apply cut paste on wounds because pines take care of that themselves. Just select your trunk line and go for it!

I woud be reducing them bothe I reckon to develop taper as Ash alludes to.
the first one tho, looks like the first part of each branch is quite bare of foliage?

If so you will have to look at grafting new branches as the may not back bud? I woud be cutting them all back hard tho in the hope they do
