The Backbreaker

Post by mudlarkpottery »

This is one I fired with Peter's pot. It's 700mm x 450mm x 150mm. I had to make the mould first and it weighs over 35kgs without any clay inside it. It is for a fig.

Very nice Mudlark! When are you going to pot up the fig? It looks like a very interesting tree and the pot will surly compliment it.

Hi Penny,

What are the whitish spots on the outside? Are they glaze?

Hi everyone. I've been unable to access the internet for a week and suddenly the computer decides to allow it today. I have 3 pages of new posts to catch up with now. The owner of the pot is coming today to pick it up It actually weighs less than 10kgs. I'll ask for a photo of the tree in place. The patches are a glaze which looks like lichen. I'll take a close-up photo before it goes and post it.

Pat, the WD40 is for lubricating the old joints - another secret potters' technique.
Daviet, some close-up photos of the patches for you. The pot weighs 7.5kgs and was picked up yesterday - another happy and satisfied customer. When it's ready, he will bring the finished setting in on our meeting day for me to take a photo.

Thanks for the feedback people. I'll be offline again for I don't know how long. I'm getting a new(?) computer and don't know how how long for the change-over to take place. This one is running at 60mghzs - that's slower than me!
I'll be back!

Paul brought in his tree today.

Yes, he knows the white is too stark and he'll be toning it down. Paul was just in a hurry to finish it off and bring it in to the meeting today.

Hi Penny,

Thank you for the update Penny. They marry up quite well, I think.

Best regards.
