Weeping maple
Hi there, need some advice,I've done some trunk carving on a maple to get rid of an ugly scar,I'm waiting on some cut paste to arrive so I can close the wound up but in the meantime i've used vaseline as I been told that this should be ok to heal the wound up.The wound is slowly weeping and I'm wondering if this normal as this is the first time I've done this type of work.Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Marcela. I would have left the carving a little later but it should be fine. the tree is trying to heal itself. Keep applying the vaseline until your wound sealant arrives

Using a flame torch to burn and scorch works aswell, it also looks cool then hit it with lime sulfer.

Re: Weeping maple
Thank you both for your replies, had thought of burning it off but was a little worried, the wound has the potential of looking good if i can master that technique. Will ponder what to do.
