Pot ideas for this tree

I was planning on building a timber pot but time is against me so I am looking for other ideas. Bonsai pots or other that would do the job & survive more than a year like the clam shell. Overall height 140cm by 150cm wide, trunk is approx 35cm at nebari & 20cm dia above the lowest left branch.

Hi Matt, I bought a large open box/ container years ago ( i believe they still sell them ) it was banging around in the ute for a couple of years with no damage, before being relagated to the garage to keep potting mixes in. It is not brittle at all ( even slightly flexible) it strikes me as very durable, dimensions 57cm x 81cm wide x 35 cm depth (about 2 mm wall) from buzzings ($50-60 from recollection) in the section that has the wheelie bins. Hope it might be big enough to help?? I would imagine this one alone full of wet moist soil would weigh in excess of 70 kg?

mate this is a monster. I think this one will require a large oval that has some depth to balance the heavy trunk. unglazed dark chocolate colour, around 100mm deep at least.

I love the character of this trunk and with a little carving will come up a treat!

Sorry I should have mentioned, to fit the current rootball without having to cut any of the large roots it will need to be a minimum of 70cm long or wide.

Ryan, the box you mention sounds good but given the above wont quite squeeze it. I had a look round Buzzings on sunday, the only thing they had was a 90cm dia plastic pond, it was fairly solid, designed to sit ontop of the ground or patio etc. If nothing else it will do the job, its just ugly

Jamie, all the deadwood is natural & given how prone wisteria are to rot, I wont be tempting fate by doing any carving (seen all too many big wisteria rot away to nothing). It has survived its first year without any more rot in the main trunk section, a little bit had to be removed higher up on one of the thicker branches but the ants seem to have it in control nowdays

She is a monster and a decent unglazed pot will eventually be the ticket but is out of reach $wise for the time being.

reckon you can get some pretty big blue coloured with handles that are sunfriendly for only a couple a bucks from' cheap as chips'

try another clam shell--but dig it down into the soil------ garage sales are good for bargains

have you checked out Ebay? there is a seller there his name is wonderful hobby and he is a nursery in syd or melb. not 100% sure but he generally has a really big range of pots at fairly good prices. if you could get there to pick it up would be best as his postage can be a little exxy.

I belie wonderful hobby is actually oriental bonsai nursery in Melbourne. They do have a large stock of pots and some pretty big ones too.

other options maybe an old bathtub?
An Otto bin cut down ( plenty left on the street every week)
I have used several bottoms of Plastic drums. Cut down to size
Water storage tank cut down
