Chinese Elm Root Cutting
These have been laying around for some time now , got it happening after the bike ride and put this together using 5 root cuttings collected last season from the compost area

Re: Chinese Elm Root Cutting
Hi Ian,
Iv just became the custodian of some largish Elm root cuttings, can you give me a brief do's and dont's on propagating them.
I was going to strip the bark from them on one side, add hormone powder and bury them shallowly in a styro grow box.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Chinese Elm Root Cutting
Hi VS,
Hope Alpine won't mind me butting in here.
I cut elm roots flat top and bottom. I was told hormone will not help on roots but have not checked validity of that. They will grow easily without it. I plant root cuttings vertical with the top above the mix (hope that makes sense?). no need for humidity, just put them on the bench with the other trees and water as needed.
