Cotoneaster progression
I thought i might start this one for the newbies and beginers because i see a lot of what style, should i chop this branch, to wire or not, suggestions please and the answer is always the same put it in a pot or box and let it grow. Here is a classic example of a Cotoneaster, it was bought from Bunnings in a bonsai pot with a tag stating the year is 2006 for $16, i purchased it on 24th September 2010 and its size is about 160mm. On the 8th of January 2011 i put it into a medium size garden pot and only fertilzed maybe two times at the max before winter, the soil was just a standard premium potting mix and no root work was done. It has now been one year since i purchased the tree but if it had been left in the bonsai pot it would still look the same but in nine months of it being potted up the difference speaks for itself. The plant has started to grow again over the last few weeks so this growing season i will start its fertilizer feeding every two weeks and let it grow and grow. First photo was taken 17/11/2010 and the next two was 11/08/2011, hope this helps in some way and i will keep this updated when worked on. Some plants may not grow as fast as this one but i think you can see what can be done if you give it some room to grow.
