During the “extended” weekend of May 15 to 18 Koji Hiramatsu delighted Australian bonsai fans with his entertaining but none the less skillful bonsai design work in Adelaide.
Koji was the star attraction for the 28th Australian National Bonsai Convention and his big smile and genuine affection for the art of bonsai had the Australian audience captivated.
He is currently Director of All Japan Shohin Bonsai Association as well as being Official Instructor of All Japan Shohin Bonsai Association and is very skilled in shohin bonsai. In the following few photos he shows how to turn a rather plain small Japanese black pine into one with movement and character.
Hi Watto,
Luke Parsons here,
Thanks for posting this blog entry, the Adelaide convention sure was a blast, and Koji’s techniques fantastic to watch.
I was fortunate enough to be the chap assisting Koji up on stage; you can see me pictured in the third photo. I was wondering if you would be able to email me this photo? It would be much appreciated. It was difficult of course to be taking any photos myself during the convention.
Cheers,
Luke
