CANBERRA BONSAI SOCIETY – EXHIBITION 2015

On the weekend of 10 & 11 October 2015 the Canberra Bonsai Society held its annual exhibition at Canberra Grammar School. This was a change of venue for the exhibition and the space was very good and the lighting was an improvement on many venues that stage exhibitions. Perhaps the sight was a little difficult to access but all in all a welcome change.

The quality of the bonsai on display was the best for a while in my opinion and I think that generally bonsai in Australia is on a steady improvement trend.

Anyway, onto the bonsai, the most important part :-

Japanese Larch

This was my favorite bonsai of the exhibition and although it was not in the winners circle, I still think it has character.

English Elm - shohin

English Elm – shohin

I really liked this small elm. It was grown from a root cutting about 15 years ago and then developed into a bonsai in its own right. The result is an interesting bonsai with style.
