As is the case at most bonsai exhibitions there is a “peoples choice” award and this exhibition was no different. Although there will always be some discussion about this type of award I think that now the general public are much better educated in bonsai excellence and also the majority of people who attend bonsai exhibitions are bonsai practitioners and therefore this type of award has significantly more meaning than some years ago.

The winners this year are:

Kirin azalea

This bonsai was in superb flower and a worthy winner of the award – 1st prize.

Swamp cypress

This bonsai is as a result of a dig and is a multi award winner – 2nd prize

Himalayan cedar

Cedrius deodora in cascade style is also the result of a dig – 3rd prize
