On the weekend of 8 & 9 October 2016 the Canberra Bonsai Society held their annual exhibition at Canberra Grammar School.
The location allows for the CBS to have an area that allows a freedom of set-up and the lighting is also quite good. At many exhibitions the lighting is not to a necessary standard to appreciate the bonsai properly, but this location is much better in that respect. The area has a “roominess” that allows many people to enjoy the exhibition without it feeling crowded. So from my perspective, two big pluses.
The negative was that there were too many bonsai in the allocated space and very good bonsai could not be properly appreciated because of the visual background “noise”. This visual background noise also made it very difficult to take reasonable photos of the bonsai on display.
The bonsai themselves were of a very high standard and possibly the best I have seen recently, so here are a few that took my fancy.
