Four Weeks in the Life of a Lilac

This tree/shrub was rescued (dug) from a garden more than ten years ago and has been in training since about 2011. It was originally a triple trunk however one of the trunks was removed to provide some simplicity. Always my main goal was to have this in flower and this year it is perhaps at its best so far. It has about 15 flowers but unfortunately most of them are on the back of the bonsai.

The flower colour is light mauve to dark pink as opposed to the usual deep purple colour that you normally associate with Lilac (Syringa vulgaris). After flowering has finished I will cut this back reasonably hard, fertilise and keep it in full sun.

The same background was used for each photo but there is a colour variance depending upon what time of day I took the photo or if the sun was out or not.

Just for fun, here is a sequence of photos of the same flower through the same period of time.
