Hi,
I'm new to bonsai, I got my Melalueca a month ago and I've done a lot of reading and decided that I want to grow some tree's from seeds.
So I ordered me some Shimpaku seeds (20 seeds) and I couldn't find the right way to germinate them.
anyone had some experience with germinating Shimpaku or other Junipers?
I thought of using peat moss to germinate and grow the seed, will it work?
Also I'm getting some Japanese maple seeds, would like to read some tips about that.
I live in Israel so "winter" (10 degrees Celsius will probably be the lowest temprature) is coming...
Thanks

Re: Shimpaku Juniper & Japanese Maple seeds
Hi David and welcome to ausbonsai.
Junipers can benifit fromthe colder weather to help germnation.
Its been a while since I have done any fromseed, but I have placed my juniper seed in some soil in a frezer bag and placed them in the freezer for a few weeks to start them off.
Its a slow way to begein the bonsai journey, but if you have no other access to stock, it may be the only way.
I wish you luck with them.
Regards,
PaulC
