In regards to the website, it's still in the pipeline.

Unfortunately, I ran into a few technical problems which have held things up.

However, do I understand you posted correctly, you glaze fired one pot inside another and they stuck together?

The finish you used is very attractive. Is it an ash glaze?

Hi Paul.
Yes, I fired one inside the other. That particular clay body has a high iron content and shrinks about 20%. I didn't realize the pot inside was a different clay body. I won't make that mistake again. The glaze isn't ash but you can't tell the difference and you don't have all the trouble associated with sieving ash or skin peeling off your hands.Our exhibition this weekend will be the first showing of that new shape and it will be interesting to see how they compare with the usual oval shape.

I find that very interesting Penny.

Putting pots within pots during the glaze firing is not a practice that I follow myself. However, I can understand the logic when dealing with the cost of energy now a days.

How did your exhibition go?

All three are round and are measure 41cm to 43 cm in diameter.

Hi Paul.
The exhibition went really well - we even made the local TV news on the Friday night but they didn't mention where it was being held.
As you mentioned, the cost of firing is high so I thought I'd try one inside another. The smaller one just fits inside the other so the weight distribution is along the perimeter and it worked well. I'll be firing like that in future.
I love the finish on your latest pots - such a smooth and even finish. Do they all come out like that?

Thanks Penny, I appreciate the positive feedback on the way these pots are finished.

The finishes that you commented on are all engobes that I apply by spraying them on the pots. And if applied properly, they all normally turn out like these.

Impressive Paul

Very refined and I love the glazes. As much as I liked seeing you push the limits with the crack pots (or was that Kioti?) I love the refined look of this one.

Much obliged Brett. I appreciate your feedback very much.

Kioti is the one that really pushes the limits of the crack pots. He really has a way with the cracked clay and his succulents always look great in his pots.

I try to keep my cracked pots a little more subdued as they are intended for bonsai use.
