Thanks Ryan, I appreciate your feedback on the pots.cre8ivbonsai wrote:Hi Paul, once again, you've produced some lovely pots there![]()
#2 & 3 from the first batch are favorites especially the texture on #3, 306-106-11 from this batch is also very nice! oow and PX-054-11!
How's the website going? I'm sure there's a few members here (from aus) that'd love to be able to purchase some of work!
Keep sharing the great work![]()
Ryan
In regards to the website, it's still in the pipeline.
Unfortunately, I ran into a few technical problems which have held things up.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Penny!mudlarkpottery wrote:Hi Paul.
You wouldn't believe this but..... . This is from my last firing. The shape looks very familiar. Your pots are lovely but I really like your iron red glazed pot best. Penny.
Thanks for the compliment.
However, do I understand you posted correctly, you glaze fired one pot inside another and they stuck together?
The finish you used is very attractive. Is it an ash glaze?
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Some new pots
Hi Paul.
Yes, I fired one inside the other. That particular clay body has a high iron content and shrinks about 20%. I didn't realize the pot inside was a different clay body. I won't make that mistake again. The glaze isn't ash but you can't tell the difference and you don't have all the trouble associated with sieving ash or skin peeling off your hands. Our exhibition this weekend will be the first showing of that new shape and it will be interesting to see how they compare with the usual oval shape.

Putting pots within pots during the glaze firing is not a practice that I follow myself. However, I can understand the logic when dealing with the cost of energy now a days.
How did your exhibition go?

Paul

Hey Paul...thanks (I think), for the poke in the ribs and while I'm 'up' I must complement you on the finish of the latest pots...excellent, and a glaze to die for on the first two pots.
I'm still working, I'm actually firing tonight.....
Cheers,
Pat

Re: Some new pots
Hi Paul.
The exhibition went really well - we even made the local TV news on the Friday night but they didn't mention where it was being held.
As you mentioned, the cost of firing is high so I thought I'd try one inside another. The smaller one just fits inside the other so the weight distribution is along the perimeter and it worked well. I'll be firing like that in future.
I love the finish on your latest pots - such a smooth and even finish. Do they all come out like that?
Hi Pat.
Good to hear from you again. Please post some photos of your latest pots.

Thanks Penny, I appreciate the positive feedback on the way these pots are finished.mudlarkpottery wrote:I love the finish on your latest pots - such a smooth and even finish. Do they all come out like that?
The finishes that you commented on are all engobes that I apply by spraying them on the pots. And if applied properly, they all normally turn out like these.
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Some new pots
Impressive Paul
Very refined and I love the glazes. As much as I liked seeing you push the limits with the crack pots (or was that Kioti?) I love the refined look of this one.

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Kioti is the one that really pushes the limits of the crack pots. He really has a way with the cracked clay and his succulents always look great in his pots.
I try to keep my cracked pots a little more subdued as they are intended for bonsai use.
Have a great day.
Cheers,
Paul
