PINUS MUGO SHOHIN 1

Post by anttal63 »

Up until yesterday this was a cascade. Some history here viewtopic.php?f=131&t=508&hilit=three+mugos&start=15 After spending the day at the growing fields i came home inspired and got stuck into it. By 1am this is what was produced. This was the back of the tree and now sits at 15cm. Come christmas i will repot it into a more suitable pot for its new guise. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Nice one Antonio, I love what you have done here and hope to see it in the bark.
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

J@&€$ H. Ch£!$t mate. That is outstanding. I was just about to ask whether it is a good time to cut back a Mugo? While I am here, is it a good time?

Mate in past experiences if you are not repotting, a hard cut around easter produces terrific back budding for spring. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Geez Antonio  Not much left there mate.

We did that to Pines up here they would be as good as dead. We can't even grow Mugo for long though.

Very nice shohin, Antonio!
But gosh, I never knew you could repot Mugo's at this time of year, let alone root-prune them like you did. :o :o :o
Best wishes to you and the tree,

Lisa

These guys are fairly quick to tell you if not happy, the colour of the new growth is looking very good and i am very confident the tree is going to be fine and continue powering on. This time of the year is the best for Mugo if the top of the tree has been and will be left alone for a condsiderable time 6-12 months and is strong... :tu:

Compliments for the finished product! :tu: :tu: :tu:
And thanks for your reply. I have always repotted my Mugo about Oct. - early Nov., with good results. Just out of curiosity I checked what Harry Harrington (Bonsai4me) had to say and he recommends Summer repotting. :tu: :tu: :tu: An English Summer wouldn't be all that different from our late Spring, I guess. It's interesting to see what H.H. has to say about Spring repotting and the Mugo generally. See http://www.bonsai4me.com/AdvTech/ATMugo ... ndepth.htm
Well, I've got 3 shohin size Mugo's waiting...
